Tower Hamlets UNISON is the largest trade union in Tower Hamlets. It is a fighting and campaigning trade union branch with over 3000 members who provide public services employed both in the public and private sectors. This includes schools and some social landlords.
Tower Hamlets UNISON represents members, negotiates, and bargains on their behalf and campaigns for better working conditions and pay. We organise and campaign alongside residents to defend local public services against cuts, closures, and privatisation.
Locally we have a team of dedicated and trained stewards who can advise and represent members of all grades when they face a problem at work. We work with the council and other local employers to promote good workplace practice. We lobby and challenge employers to make changes when improvements need to happen. We are committed to achieving equality in our workplaces, in our union, in our borough and across society.
The east end of London has a rich and inspiring history of working-class solidarity, anti-racism protest and social justice campaigning that goes back over a hundred years. It is in this proud tradition that Tower Hamlets UNISON stands.
